Starfish Glass Earrings - Green

Bring a feeling of endless summer fun to your day with these delightful Starfish earrings made from up-cycled glass. The discs are cut and then slumped in the StoneArrow kiln to give a pleasing curve to them before being tumbled super smooth and sandblasted with a charming starfish design. Finished off with handmade recycled sterling silver hooks.

Many of our starfish are distinctly shaped and therefore recognisable. We chose the iconic, simple shape of the Comb Star or Pekapeka (Astropecten polyacanthus) as inspiration for this design.  It's a classic five-pointed starfish 200-250 mm across, of buff or yellowish brown colour, very spiny at the sides and underneath, but with a dense pile-like texture on top. Found on sandy bottoms from low water to about 55m, but occasionally on sandy flats between tides around the North Island east coast.
