These light and modern earrings are made from ancient Kauri wood with hand-carved details. The shape references the stunning New Zealand Kōwhai flower, which is known for being a clear marker of the beginning of spring.
Ancient Kauri — or Swamp Kauri — is Kauri from New Zealand’s North Island prehistoric forests. Buried and preserved in peat swamps at the end of the last Ice Age, the wood has survived in perfect condition for over 50,000 years.
